Bernie is a highly regarded professional with 30+ years of expertise in energy, biofuels, and merchant banking. His experience and expertise spans engineering, project development, capital project planning/implementation, senior management and C-Level strategic consulting. In his various roles, Bernie has had a key role in developing and/or running numerous ethanol plants.
Bernie's biofuels industry CV includes key positions with The Broin Companies (now Poet), industry leader ICM, and COO of Babcock and Brown Biofuels. Bernie is a strong leader, innovator and problem solver and is highly regarded and respected in the biofuels industry.
Bernie's guidance and industry credibility is vital to the TotalGEN Team. He is a Kansas Jayhawk with a degree in Petroleum Engineering.
Vice President, Delivery
Bobby is an accomplished business executive with over 30 years' experience managing the design and implementation of leading edge software and process solutions for the engineering-construction industry. He began his career at Bechtel developing software and process answers to complex process plant construction, operation, and financial performance issues domestically and internationally.
For the last six years he has focused on the financial and operational challenges of the ethanol industry. Currently he is engaged in designing the energy management, carbon emission, and operations management solutions that form TotalGEN's information backbone.
A Navy Veteran, Bobby attended Auburn University on a NROTC scholarship earning his degree in Building Construction. He also holds an MBA from the University of West Florida.
Vice President, Engineering
Bob is a seasoned project controls and sales/marketing executive. In his 40 year career he has had successively more responsible positions in designing and marketing process control systems across a wide variety of industries including biofuels, oil and gas, industrial chemicals, and nuclear weapons manufacturing. Bob completed his process controls executive career at Siemens as the Western Regional Manager for Western North America.
Bob then turned his attention to the ethanol industry. He joined industry leader ICM as Product Manager for Advanced Process Control (APC) and improved DCS regulatory control designs. These products improve safety and fuel efficiency for combustion control of Thermal Oxidizers and Dryers. During his seven year career at ICM Bob established a reputation for integrity and solid engineering design and is highly regarded in the industry.
A US Army veteran, Bob holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Arkansas.
Director, Environmental Services
Andrea is recognized in the ethanol industry as a highly accomplished, and passionate environmental professional. For nearly two decades she has been involved in environmental permitting, regulatory compliance at over 100 domestic chemical/ethanol plants in over 30 states and internationally in Canada, Bahamas, Hungary, Croatia and Brazil.
For a major ethanol industry professional services provider she grew from the ground up an environmental division dedicated to environmental permitting and regulatory affairs. Later, she expanded their services portfolio to include permitting and professional consulting services in the air quality, water quality, solid and hazardous waste, site security, and carbon/sustainability sectors. To further assist her customers in environmental compliance, she designed and led software development of a customer-focused Online Environmental Compliance System to track and maintain regulatory reporting and recordkeeping obligations.
At TotalGEN, Andrea continues to support our customers' environmental and permitting needs. She also has a focus on the unique environmental & permitting issues associated with TotalGEN's CHP activities.
R. Nick Cioll
Managing Partner, TotalCoGen LP / TotalGen LLC
Nick has 30 years of experience in the energy and commodities industries with extensive experience in retail, wholesale, and trading of electricity, natural gas, and green energy. Prior to joining TotalGEN, Nick served as CFO and Chief Risk Officer of Houston-based electricity retailer Sperian Energy Corporation, VP Financial Operations and Chief Risk Officer for energy retailer Commerce Energy and Senior Director of Risk Management and acting Chief Risk Officer at TXU Corporation. Prior to that, as VP of M&A at Kaiser Aluminum and CFO of the Agrico Chemical division of Freeport-McMoRan, he managed, arranged financing, and closed over a dozen M&A transactions with value of over $5 billion.
An accomplished energy retailer and M & A professional, Nick brings the deep experience and industry connections required to raise capital for capital projects and manage them to successful completion. He received his B.S. in Economics from Louisiana State University, his MBA (Finance Option) from the University of New Orleans and his CPA certification in 1993.
